En todas las escuelas, los estudiantes de último año realizan una actividad de despedida y esteaño la Escuela Santa Teresita de Aserrí nos invitó a dirigir este evento. Realizaron una cena para que compartieran los estudiantes con sus familias en un salón cercano a la institución. Asistieron alrededor de 150 personas y contamos con la participación del JD José, el cual amenizó la noche con música, agradecemos su participación y extendemos dicho agradecimiento a la directora por permitirnos compartir con los muchachos esta fecha tan importante.Every senior class in our elementary schools celebrate a farewell dinner party, Santa Teresita Elementary invited us to organize theirs this year. We organized a dinner party for the students and their families in a facility near the school. Approximately 150 people attended the event and we featured JD José and his music, we are thankful for his participation and we also express our gratitude to the principal for letting us share such important event with the students.

A 20 kilómetros de Cartago, vía al Cerro de la Muerte, encontramos esta escuelita, la cual, contactamos gracias a la ayuda de la señora Laura Madrigal, quien nos ha servido de enlace en dos comunidades como Alajuelita y Guápiles. En esta escuela hay mucho trabajo por realizar, por lo que los estaremos agendando para el próximo año. Debido a nuestro apretado itinerario actual, no pudimos desplazar un equipo de trabajo hasta la zona, pero si logramos aportar los materiales para que algunos padres de familia pintaran algunas aulas, les agradecemos a ellos por ayudarnos a terminar este proyecto.26 kilometers away from Cartago on the way to Cerro de la Muerte we found this little elementary school, we contacted them through Mrs. Laura Madrigal, our contact with other communities like Alajuelita and Guápiles. There is much to do in this school and we will be including it in our schedule for next year. Because our current schedule has been busy we weren’t able to take a team there, but we donated paint that parents will be using in some classrooms. We want to thank you for helping us complete this project.

Esta fue la última institución contactada durante este año y como es costumbre nuestro primerprograma es una recreación para sus estudiantes. La asistencia no fue mucha, ya que la gran mayoría de los niños en sus tiempos libres desempeñan labores en la agricultura y en las granjas típicas de la región, la directora señora Emily Masís a la cabeza de esta escuela ha alcanzado en poco tiempo grandes objetivos, como por ejemplo: techar toda el área recreativa. En Conexión cuando vemos esfuerzos de esta magnitud nos motivamos a ser parte de esos trabajos, por lo cual este es el inicio de una serie de proyectos que realizaremos en esta escuela. Díaz después le donamos a esta institución un congelador y una vitrina térmica para colaborar con el almacenamiento de víveres.

This was the last contacted school during this year and as custom, our first program is a day of recreation for the students. The help wasn´t much, now that the majority of the kids are working in agriculture and in the regions farmlands. The director Ms. Emily Masís, head of this school, had reached great objectives in little time, for example: roofing the outside/recreational area. In Conexion, when we see efforts of this magnitude we are motivated to be a part of the task at hand; which is why this was the beginning of a series of projects that we completed in this school. Days later we donated a cooler and a heating showcase to the school to collaborate with their food storage.

Esta fue la última reunión del año, ya que a partir de aquí, nos concentramos en las fiestas navideñas. Esta vez nuestros amigos del Campamento La Cumbre, dirigieron la actividad, contamos con una buena asistencia, la cual disfruto de un tiempo de alabanza, una enseñanza por el Msc. Rogelio Morales y una presentación de las facilidades del campamento de aventura extrema La Cumbre. Este espacio ha sido prefecto para estrechar amistades entre diferentes organizaciones y sabemos que seguirá creciendo.This was the last meeting of the year. Besides this we also concentrated on the Christmas parties. This time our friends from Campamento La Cumbre directed the activities. We sang with great presence, enjoying the time of praise, a lesson by Rogelio Morales and a presentation about the facilities of the camp and extreme adventures La Cumbre. This space has been perfect to build friendships in different organizations and we know that it will continue to grow.

Damos gracias a Dios por la oportunidad que tuvimos de visitar a nuestros amigos en diferentes ciudades de los Estados Unidos. Nuevos contactos compartir en varias congregaciones, grupos interesados en visitarnos fueron algunos de los objetivos alcanzados, lo mas importante fue ver la gracia de Dios actuando en cada lugar a traves de cada persona. Mil gracias a todos nuestros amigo y hermanos Estadounidenses.We want to say “Thanks”. Everything was wonderful. It is great to see the body of Christ working around the world. Our amazing time in the US was a big Blessing for us. We hope our friendship keeps growing every day. We miss everybody and we hope to see you soon.

La actividad desarrollada el sabado anterior, consistio en un programa de desprendimiento para los familiares de los 36 pacientes que fallecieron el semestre pasado. Este evento culmino con un trabajo periodico que psicologos y trabajadores sociales habian venido realizando con ellos. Musica especial, un mensaje de esperanza, un refrigerio y nuestro apoyo, formaron parte de esta programacion. Este fue un momento donde recordamos a esos seres queridos que ya han partido y a la vez, tratamos de ayudarles a comprender que el desprendimiento de ese ser amado, no esta relacionado con olvidarlo; sino antes seria hacerlo parte de un recuerdo grato, con la inminente certeza de que un dia nos reuniremos otra vez. Al final se le hizo entrega a cada familiar de un hermoso recuerdo conmemorando dicha actividad. Damos gracias a Dios por permitirnos compartir este tiempo, el cual, impacto y enriquecio las vidas de todos los que asistimos.Ya que nos hemos comprometido con este programa especial para pacientes con enfermedades terminales, les estaremos informando las fechas de las siguientes actividades y los otros proyectos que vamos a desarrollar para apoyar esta increible causa. Este proyecto es desarrollado en asocio con la iglesia ” Comunidad del este ” . Queremos agradecer a todas las personas que colaboraron : Sr. Hugo Velasquez, Sr. Alberto Mora, Sr.Harold Brenes, Sr. Arith Bermudez, Srita.Silenia Diaz, Sra. The program included special music, a message of hope, a snack, and our support. This was a time in which we remembered and honored the loved ones whom they had lost, at the same time we tried to help them understand that the process of moving on from their love ones is not about forgetting but rather it is about remembering them fondly, with the imminent certainty that they will one day be reunited. In conclusion we provided each family member with a beautiful keepsake commemorating the activity. We give thanks to God for permitting us to share this time, which impacted and enriched the lives of all who were involved. Now that we are involved in this special program for patient’s with terminal illnesses, we will keep you posted of the dates of the next activities and the other projects that we are developing (working on) for the support of this incredible cause. This project is taking place in association with the church “Comunidad del este”. We want to thank all those who worked in partnership with us: Mr. Hugo Velasquez, Mr. Alberto Mora, Mr.Harold Brenes, Mr. Arith Bermudez, Miss Silenia Diaz, Mrs. Laura Muñoz (and her fellow workers), Mr. Eric Arroyo and the members of the congregation whom not only supported, but actively participated as well.

Cada año celebramos este día nacional con una recreación para cientos de niños. Esta vez las escuelas favorecidas fueron la escuela Santa Teresita de Aserri y el Kinder de la Carpio. El martes 9 compartimos con 400 niños en Aserri y la fiesta se desarrollo en el estadio ST Center y el miércoles 10 realizamos la recreación en la Carpio, para 260 pequeños de Kinder. Fueron dos días de arduo trabajo, Dios nos bendijo con un buen sol y las lluvias no se hicieron presentes, por lo que los niños pudieron disfrutar de un tiempo de juegos, concursos, alegría y de un clima caluroso; así como también lograron sentir el amor de Dios, a través de nuestras acciones. Damos gracias a Dunia Iturralde, Yuri Prada, Silenia Díaz, Gustavo Solis y Erick Arroyo por su apoyo e inagotable dispocision y amor para estos niños.Each year we celebrate this national day with recreation for hundreds of kids. This time we held our parties at Aserri’s Santa Teresita Elementary School at the ST Center Stadium for 400 kids and at Carpio Elementary School for 250 kindergarten kids. It was two days of hard work and God blessed us with sunny parties with competitions, contests, happiness, and warm weather. The kids also experienced the love of God through everything we did. We want to thank Dunia Iturralde, Yuri Prada, Silenia Díaz, Gustavo and Erick Arroyo for their endless willingness to serve and their love for the kids

Esta es una actividad mensual, la cual inauguramos el pasado lunes, con la idea de compartir con ministerios y voluntarios que participan en nuestros proyectos. Este espacio se abre cada mes, como una oportunidad en la que diferentes ministerios pueden agradecer a Dios en comunión y a la vez conocer y orar por sus planes. De esta manera podemos ver como ayudarnos mutuamente. Por supuesto hay una enseñanza presidida por el pastor Rogelio Morales y la música dirigida por nuestro ministerio de alabanza. Es una hora cada mes donde conocerás nuevas personas, nuevos ministerios y donde juntos estaremos intercediendo por nuestros trabajos. Las próximas actividades son el lunes 17 de noviembre y el Lunes 8 de Diciembre a las 7:00 pm en el parque sendas. No te lo puedes perder. En este mes consolidamos una alianza con la organización “Orientación a la Familia” dirigida por su presidente MSC. Rogelio Morales Castillo. Con esta unión queremos influenciar positivamente la familia de hoy, institución que día a día ha ido perdiendo su significado. Aprovechando las puertas abiertas en escuelas y colegios, queremos desarrollar talleres y conferencias que provean de herramientas eficaces a los individuos. Y así logren afianzar los vínculos familiares. Ya tenemos una serie de temas a su dispocision. Para cerrar esta temporada, trabajamos con un equipo de Young Life New York. Como de costumbre coordinado por Jenny Mclane Barrantes. Con estos muchachos realizamos tres proyectos en 4 días, impactando positivamente dos de las comunidades donde vida joven tiene reuniones. Los dos primeros proyectos los desarrollamos en granadilla, un grupo estuvo limpiando y pintando la pared externa de la iglesia católica y con el otro grupo estuvimos trabajando en la reparación de una casa de una familia de escasos recursos. A la cual se le mejoro el aspecto a la construcción con estuco, pintura y láminas de fibrolit, también construimos un sistema de drenaje, con el cual solucionamos el problema de filtración de agua por la paredes y lo mejor de todo fue la relación de amistad que conseguimos con la familia. Marisol, la madre y su hija Maria, quienes en el grupo encontraron muchos amigos. El tercer proyecto fue en un salón en moravia, perteneciente a las monjas franciscanas y dirigido por Hermana Margarita. Aquí pintamos completamente el salón, los baños y la fachada. De esta forma contribuimos a la conservación de este edificio. Damos gracias a Dios por permitirnos compartir con este excelente grupo de trabajadores y con sus líderes. Esperamos regresen pronto. 1 Juan 3:18 gracias Rob!To close this season, we worked with a Young Life team from New York; as always, coordinated by Jenny McLane Barrantes. With this group, we completed three projects in 4 days, positively impacting two of the communities where Young Life holds their meetings. The two first projects were developed in the city of Granadilla. Split into two groups, one group was cleaning and painting the external wall of a catholic church and the other was working on repairing a house of a family with sparse resources. The appearance of the construction was improved with stucco, paint and sheets of drywall. We also constructed a drainage system which we solved the problem of water filtering through the walls and the best thing of all was the friendship that we made with the family that lived there. Marisol (mother and house owner) and her daughter Maria, made many friends in the group. The third project was in an assemblage in Moravia, belonging to the Franciscan nuns and directed by Sister Daisy. Here we painted the hall inside and out along with the bathrooms. By doing this, we contributed to the conservation of this building. We give thanks to God for permitting us to share with this excellent group of workers and their leaders.
